Be sure to state any special needs you have; if your child is generally put off by in your face sorts of people, for example, ask if they can provide a gentle clown who can entertain and amuse the children without being too brash. If your child loves balloons, try to get a clown who can make balloon animals. If your child loves acrobatic tricks, try to find a clown who can do those. Tailoring the clown to the age of the children and the needs of the party is not radical or outlandish; it's simply to be expected.
